City Sounds Vinyl

City Sounds

AMBIENT RECORD | GROOVY, GORGEOUS, VERY COOL | ARTISTS: NATHANIEL SCHWARTZ, DRC, GREGORIO ZANARDI

This album started on a train. From sounds we collected in LA, The Bay, Chicago, Boston, NYC, D.C. and hundreds of field recordings from transit riders across the country, City Sounds was born.

The very talented Nate Schwartz took the hundreds of recordings we’d amassed and the musical history of each metro area to spin a record that’s totally transit, totally ambient, and totally delectable.

Metroboards

Metroboards

LIVE SUBWAY MAPS | REAL-TIME DATA, WALNUT + ALUMINUM | ARTIST: DRC

Metroboard is an art object that displays the real-time location of every train in every station in your city. Connected to WiFi, it requests live data from transit agencies to update the lights on the board every few seconds.  Brightness, update frequency, color, and other settings are customizable.

Constructed with premium materials (a solid walnut frame using miter joints and brushed aluminum paneling), Metroboard is built to last and look good doing it.

How Metroboard Works

Arriving Now

Most transit systems provide real-time location information for their trains and buses (that’s how you see where they are on your phone’s map). Metroboard uses the same data to show the locations of trains as they move throughout the city.

Customizable

  • Choose multi-color or white lights
  • Adjust the update rate
  • Configure brightness
  • Choose how in-transit trains are shown

Premium Materials

Mid-century design and materials make Metroboard a timeless piece. With a solid walnut frame and brushed aluminum faces, Metroboard is built to last and look good doing it.

Easy Setup

A desktop stand, extra-long 10ft cord, and mounting accessories are included to fit any space. No apps needed either - set up in under a minute with any browser-equipped device.

Automatic Updates

Metroboard will update to the latest software, hands-free, over the internet and restart automatically.

The New York City Metroboard is one of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time. It’s absolutely beautiful to look at — not just a clever idea, but a truly striking piece of art that adds so much character to the room. The craftsmanship is excellent, and every time I look at it, it gives me that rare feeling you get when you buy something and immediately know you completely love it.

The most amazing intersection of art, transit, and functionality! It's so cool to see your city's subway map come to life in real time in a classy design that you're proud to display.

It is, without exaggeration, one of the most impressive projects I’ve ever supported. The anodized aluminum panels, oil-rubbed walnut frame with double-miter keys, resin-filled LEDs, and crisp epoxy paint station routes create a piece that is both functional and stunning. Photos and videos simply don’t capture how remarkable it looks and feels in person.

The metroboard is fantastic! All the guests who have been to my house have been so interested in it, and it provides a good and easy to way to see which trains are at the station when I'm about to head out!
